Volunteering for WOSM

As one of the world’s largest volunteer-based movements, Scouting is made possible thanks to the dedication and support of more than five million volunteers who are active around the world.

These volunteers support National Scout Organizations to deliver Scouting’s Youth Programme to more than 57 million young people, engaging them through impactful and life-changing educational initiatives, events and activities.

What is the open call and who can apply?

Every triennium, WOSM opens a call to invite young people and adults who reflect the diversity of our Movement to volunteer at the world level. The volunteer open call offers an opportunity for volunteers to support the implementation of the World Triennial Plan and contribute towards achieving Vision 2023 as our Strategy for Scouting.

As a WOSM volunteer, you will be part of a passionate global team of Scouts supporting 172 National Scout Organizations worldwide. If you are over the age of 18 and a member of a National Scout Organization, then you are eligible to apply through the open call before the deadline of 15 September 2021.

Why volunteer for WOSM?

By volunteering for WOSM, young people and adults have an opportunity to contribute their knowledge, expertise and ideas to advance the efforts of the world’s leading educational youth movement.

Volunteers will have the chance to develop professionally, meet new friends from across Scouting, gain international experience in a multi-cultural environment, and have fun as a member of a global team. Volunteers will also gain valuable exposure and learnings that will enable them to better contribute to their National Scout Organization.

Volunteering for WOSM also provides great opportunities for National Scout Organizations to broaden their networks, build their capacities and strengthen their visibility within World Scouting thanks to the experience and skills their volunteers will develop and bring back. It is also an essential support for World Scouting to increase the relevance of our resources and support to National Scout Organizations.

How to apply

The process to apply to become a WOSM volunteer is easy and simple. Use the form linked below to submit your application. Once your application is submitted, your National Scout Organization will be notified and asked to endorse your application as a volunteer. We encourage you to reach out to your National Scout Organization and let them know you are applying to speed up the endorsement process.
