The National Youth Advisors with support of the Youth programme Department of The Scout Association of Nigeria (TSAN) have put together an eight-week online Scouting Programme to keep Scouts engaged as the COVID-19 pandemic persists. Dubbed Scouting@Home, the programme which commences on 23rd August 2020 aims at delivering fun, educative and empowering contents through an exciting and interactive online experience for thousands of scouts across Africa’s most populous nation.

Through this initiative, the TSAN hopes reactivate grassroots Scouting as Schools and places of worship remain closed in the country. They will also use the opportunity to reinforce safety measures put in place by public health officials including social distancing, wearing face masks and handwashing or sanitizing.

To be delivered by scout volunteers, the programme will also offer adults a chance to contribute, in an innovative way, to the education and containment of young people during these difficult times. Young Nigerians who are not Scouts are also invited to take part in the programme that will also build their digital literacy skills. Other areas to be covered in the programme include; tools for digital Scouting, health and wellbeing, and dialogue. The participants will also be engaged in challenges and project activities to enable them to put to practice the concepts they will have learnt.
