Scouting has been a part of my life for the past 14 years now; 2 years as a Beaver Scout, 3 as a Cub Scout, 4 as a Scout, 3 as a Venturer Scout, and currently as a Rover Scout. Along this journey I have had the chance to interact with incredible people and do some incredible things. I’ve been from coast to coast with scouting in Canada and now I look broader, to a future still yet unexplored. Whether it includes the upcoming 2017 World Moot, Kandersteg or the 2019 World Jamboree in our own back yard, is yet to be seen but, scouting is my way of life.
My love of scouting has taken on many different roles. From a young age I have been involved in leadership positions including: Seconder, Sixer, Patrol Leader, Court-of-Honour President, Venturer Executive Member, Activity-Leader, Scouter-In Training, Area Youth Commissioner, and Saskatchewan Council Youth Commissioner. These opportunities have given me the ability to be the person I am today and given me the opportunity to give back to my community. The scout life is the life for me.
My passions in scouting include training and outdoor programming. I haveve helped in the training of the next generation of youth and scouters alike through programs such as FLEX, FAST, FOCUS and Woodbadge. As a member of the national SCENES committee and a volunteer a both the 2011 Pacific Jamboree and 2013 Canadian Jamboree, putting the “OUT in Scout” has been one of the biggest joys of my scouting career.
Recently I have been appointed to the Scouts Canada national Board of Governors. I am looking forward to this challenge and I hope to stay involved at all levels of this organization that has for so long given me so much.
