The Interamerican Region is launching the following photography contest, the topic is Scouts for SDGs, the idea is to promote daily actions where we as Scouts, can support the Sustainable Development Goals from home.

In order for scouts to learn more about the SDGs, a range of educational tools, trainings and resources have been developed. These materials explain the vision behind Scouting for the SDGs and provide practical guidance on how National Scout Organizations can align their Youth Programme, it also includes initiatives under the Better World Framework. Offering new learning opportunities that engage and educate youth on global issues. Additionally this site  promotes local activities develop around the SDGs in different communities. We know that many of you are at home, so this photography contest will represent a creativity challenge to incorporate recycling, environmental education, civil rights education and the promotion of a peaceful environment into your life. Small actions like unplugging appliances that are not being used, learning about other cultures, using reusable bags when shopping, online training about cyberbullying, collaborate with your friends through an online game, turn off the water tap while you brush. The winners will obtain a grant to cover the fee for the next regional event of their choice (4th Interamerican Scout Moot or JamCam) in the following categories:

  • Young people from 15 to 18 years old (Venturers or equivalent)
  • Young people between 18 and 25 years old (Rovers or equivalent)
  • Over 25 years (Adults in Scouting)

The grant consists of the payment of the fee to the selected event, only. The rest of the costs for participate in the event (transportation, national delegation fee, passport, etc.) must be covered by the participant. The scholarship will be non-transferable, only the winner will be able to use it.

Photographs must meet the following requirements:

  • Be original and declare it in the online form.
  • Have at least 85 dpi. Any proposal that has a lower resolution than the required will not be accepted, since the material will be published later.
  • Free technique
  • The title reflects the topic of the contest: Scouts for the SDGs. In addition, you must include a brief explanation on which SDG are you connecting the photography.
  • Copy of the document that certifies your current registration in a National Scout Organization of the Interamerican Scout Region.

Contest participants transfer the right to use the photos for publication and their exhibition to the  World Scout Bureau- Intermerica Support Centre of, once they have submitted the form below:

The jury will be made up of photographers with extensive experience.

The deadline for submitting proposals is June 26, 2020.

The winning photos will be announced on our social networks on July 3rd, 2020. We ask you to share this information and the publications we make on our social media to promote participation throughout the Region.
