Youth Advisor Update #3 - Nov '14 What? World Scout Committee Meeting Where? WSB Office, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia When? November ‘14 Who? Daiana, Jérémy, Luis, Maeed & Máire 100 days and more to go ! As this year comes to an end we want to share with you some news from the World Scout Committee (WSC) meeting that took place from the 14 to the 16th of November in Kuala Lumpur, at the World Scout Bureau (WSB) offices. Besides the WSC, key WSB Staff members and us, your 6 Youth Advisors (Montaser wasn’t able to join us, but his spirit was always present) were involved in three intense days of planning, hard work and decision making that were crucial for delivering a plan for the upcoming triennium. So here comes the news! We now have a framework of how to behave in the committee and evaluate success, the WSC Team Charter, which will be used throughout the triennium. Bring out the drums because … the Triennial Plan 2014-2017 was approved, organized under 4 main workstreams, and will be ready to be shared with you by the start of the new year! We are looking forward to providing the Youth perspective and promoting intergenerational dialogue in each area. We spread out in all of them as follows : Innovating Scouting, encompassing Educational Methods and Youth Engagement (Daiana and Maeed), Social Impact and Reaching Out, covering Social Impact and Diversity & Inclusion (Montaser and Luis), Image, Partnerships and Engagements, including Communications & External Relations (Jéreémy) and Governance and NSO support (Máire). The weekend also so a monumental development - the World Scout Committee decided that one of us will be added to the Steering Committee, good luck Maeed :) ! We also worked among ourselves to approve a roadmap, which will serve to guide our work to promote youth participation and communicate with young people all throughout these next three years. We are waiting for feedback from some key people before submitting the draft to you, giving you a chance to engage and contribute to the design of our own youth advisor triennal plan, don’t miss out on such an opportunity! Last but not least, thanks for everyone who answered the open call, it will not be an easy task to select the final volunteers from the 254 applications to help during the next years, we are sure that any of the applicants would be a good asset, but unfortunately we are selecting a small number of volunteers for each team, further notice will be announced in January 2015 so keep in touch. Don't forget to follow us on Youth Wall on Facebook, Scout.org and Twitter (@ScoutYouthWall) to get all the news first hand, before everyone else! With no further news, we want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Best wishes for 2015 Daiana, Jérémy, Luis, Maeed, Máire, & Montaser Your Youth Advisors to the World Scout Committee (2014 – 2017)
