The Scout Association of Nigeria Get New Chief Scout, Chief Commissioner, Honorary National Secretary, Honorary National Treasurer, and Auditor
The Scout Association of Nigeria successfully held her 2017 AGM in Abuja on Saturday 8 July 2017, at the Women Development Centre in Abuja.
The AGM was presided over by the Deputy Chief Scout Rev Fr Matthias Opara, after the outgoing CS whose tenure expired few days before the AGM gave his valedictory speech. The outgoing CS was celebrated in a ceremony so touching and scouting way. He also agreed not to contest again in the true spirit of conflict resolution. The outgoing CS further explained that stepping down will help in putting an end to the power tussle between the CS and the CC which has stagnated scouting activities for a very long time in Nigeria accepted to step down from office in conformity to the directive of the ARD that both the CS and CC should step down if they are not able to reach an amicable Scout-way solution to the lingering power play.
Rev Fr Matthias, therefore, presided over the AGM in his new capacity as the Acting Chief Scout having been formally sworn in after the former CS Engr Rufai Muhammad whose tenure has expired stepped down as the CS.
Following the reports of grave misconducts, unaccountability and abuse of office received on the Chief Commissioner, Mr. Olusoga Sofolahan, the meeting passed a vote of “No Confidence” on him and was therefore suspended with immediate effect while Chief Adewuyi Kusimo, LT, Assistant Chief Commissioner (South-West) was appointed Ag. Chief Commissioner as provided for in the Constitution of the Association.
Other officers were elected according to the guidance of the constitution.
Acting Chief Scout: Rev. Fr. Matthias Opara, ALT
Acting Chief Commissioner: Chief Adewuyi Kusimo LT
Honorary National Secretary: Dr. Chukwujekwu Sunday Ibe, ALT
Honorary National Treasurer: Mrs. Bridget Nyameh, WB
National Auditor: Mallam. Zubairu Sambo Faruq was accepted as Auditor (in line with GSAT requirement).
Also, the Actions of the NEC were guided by the directives of the ARD that both the CS and CC should step aside for an interim Team to take over which the CS complied.
I wish the new Acting CS, Acting CC, HNS, HNT, and Auditor the best of luck.
Long Live TSAN!
Long Live WOSM!!
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
