SXG Boy scout cooking competition

On 15th of July 15, 2017 St. Xaviers school Godavari had organizer a boy cooking competition to evaluate the cooking skill of the young boy scout. Cooking is not just a way of preparing something that we can consume. It is a form of art. In our case it is a way of keeping our tradition alive. The theme for the cooking competition was “traditional Nepal food”. The scout gathered at St. Xaviers School Godavari at 09:10 A.M. right after the short introduction by the scouter Saroj Raut, scouter Sanobhai Nepali and scouter Shrijan Amatya, the scouts got ready for their cooking by collecting some bricks and wood to make a wooden stove. Since the food had to be cooked in firewood the scouts took some time to prepare their work station. Right after the work station was ready the scout got on with their cooking. Due to the use of traditional wooden stove the scouts had a hard time keeping the fire going. Right after they got the hang of it, the cooking went smoothly. During this competition the scouts learned to manage their work space, their time and many more problem handling skill. They learned the importance of teamwork and cooperation. After four hours of continuous hard work the scout’s will power came through and the program was a huge success. Although all the hardship they faced, all the problems they had to solve, they overcame the entire obstacle thrown at them ending the competition with a huge success. At last the scouts presented their works to the chief judge ending the program with smile on everyone’s face. This competition taught the student about the importance of teamwork and time management. At last ‘The food that students presented wasn’t just some ordinary food it was their tradition and their identity which came out in the form of food.’
