Scouting links strengthen in the European Youth Forum

1. Jan 2009

Giuseppe Porcaro of AGESCI, Italy is appointed as Secretary-General of the platform.

European Scouting made again a significant contribution in strengthening the cooperation of European youth organisations in shaping policies.
The membership of the Forum appointed Giuseppe Porcaro of AGESCI Italy and former key volunteer of the European Scout Region as the new Secretary-General of the platform in Brussels from 8 to 9 May. This appointment will further strengthen the role of Scouting at the helm of European youth civil society following the election of WOSM representative Tine Radinja as the President of the organisation in November 2008.

“At this stage of organisational life, we need to better deliver, strengthen and consolidate YFJ work. As the Secretary-General, I will focus on supporting the elected volunteers to lead the organisation and shape the Secretariat to focus on better communication and knowledge production – towards increased visibility, resources and partnerships” Giuseppe commented on his appointment as the head of 25-strong Secretariat of the platform.
