European Scouting has successfully renewed its support from the European Institutions!
1. Jan 2009
The European Scout Region has be granted an important financial support for its work and administration of the Brussels office from the EU Commission through the Youth in Action Programme and from the Council of Europe through the European Youth Foundation.
For the third year in a row, the European Scout Region has been granted administrative support from the EU Commission through the Youth in Action Programme. We have been successful in the application for the sub-Action 4.1 - Support for bodies active at European level in the field of youth: “This sub-Action supports the operation of non-governmental organizations active at European level in the youth field that pursue a goal of general European interest (ENGOs). Their activities must contribute to young people's participation in public life and society and the development and implementation of European cooperation activities in the youth field in the broadest sense”. The Region has been awarded the maximum allocation of €35,000.
Also, the Council of Europe has endorsed the work of the European Region with a grant through the European Youth Foundation Category C grant: a financial aid to international youth NGOs and networks, not only to help them carry out their projects, but also to contribute to their annual administrative costs. The European Youth Foundation has allocated an administrative grant to the European Scout Region of €15,647
This is a great recognition of the work of the Region but also Scouting in Europe. You may already be aware of the increased activity to secure more funding for nationally organised activities as well as regional activities.
While only European level organizations can apply for administrative support, there are many other opportunities for NSOs within the Youth in Action programme and the European Youth Foundation – don’t be shy, apply for support!
