1st Jan 2009

The Jamboree Organizing Committee of the 26th APR Scout Jamboree met for the third time on 10th February 2009 at the national office of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP).

BSP coordinators, representing various committees, reported on the progress of Jamboree departments, monitoring every detail to ensure the success of the regional jamboree. They met with the regional team comprised of Ms Mari Nakano, past Programme Sub-Committee Chairman, Mr Rajalingnam Ramasamy, APR Sub-Committee member and Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed.

A team of Asia-Pacific Committee of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) headed by Chairman June Cameron, was in the Philippines for the preparation of their summit in November, and was invited by the Jamboree team.

The latest number of confirmed overseas participants has reached to 1,449 from 21 National Scout Organizations.

This most-awaited regional jamboree will take place on 28th December 2009 to 3rd January 2010 in Mt Makiling, situated in Laguna, Philippines. One of the highlights of the jamboree is the reunion of the 10th World Scout Jamboree, which is exactly 50 years since the Philippines hosted the world jamboree. Full details of this reunion will be made available.
