11,000 Scouts and Leaders Working for a Better Environment

On March 10th , 2009, the National Project on Environmental Preservation will be held with the participation of 11,000 Scouts and leaders from all governorates and districts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Project, which will last for 5 years, is intended to enhancing values of environmental protection at the national level via practical practices and encouraging activities of environment maintenance. Such practices and activities should highlight the role of Scouting in environmental protection. The project will comprise distributing posters and awareness messages and publications in addition to instruments relating to keeping environment clean.

It also includes cleaning of public places and wildlife parks and beaches with the assistance of audiences. There will be also contests between Scout units on waste collection and disposal as well as environmental education activities.

The project will further focus on the requirements on obtaining the hobby badge in the field of environment. It is worthy mentioning that the project will be organized through partnership between a number of official bodies in KSA (Ministry of education, Ministry of Media and Ministry of Health) and Association of Former and Fellow Scouts in addition to other agencies concerned with the environment.
