Some 30 Scout leaders representing eight National Scout Organizations in the Arab Scout Region, namely Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia and Sudan attended the 5th Certified Training for Professionals (CTP) which was held at the Cairo International Scout Centre (CISC) in Egypt from 15 to 24 March 2015.
The training was organised in collaboration with ARTDO International which was represented by Dr. Donald Ford, author of “Bottom-line Training” and Ms. Rita Goh, and Ms Serely Alcaraz, a highly qualified trainer in the field, from the Institute of Training and Development (ITD).
It is the first of a series of training sessions this year, leading up to the ARTDO 42nd International Conference in October 2015, which carries the theme “Talent Management & Leadership Development for Peace, Harmony & Prosperity”.
Dr. Abdelmageed, in commending the Scout leaders for their time and effort, said the Scout Movement and the world today need highly qualified leaders who maintain the values and uniqueness of the Movement.
He said that the availability of skilled and values-based leaders is important for the Scout Movement to help World Scouting succeed in having 100 million young people join the Movement by 2023. The presence of such leaders will help create positive change in the Arab region as well as in the word, he added.
The 10-day programme covered five modules, namely the trainer in the organisation, training needs assessment, training design, training implementation and training evaluation, and is followed by a 90-day project period.
At the end of the programme, participants were presented with a certificate for their participation and interactivity during the training. Each participant will receive certification as a Certified Training Professional (CTP) from ARTDO International - ITD upon delivering and assessing his/her project within the 90 days period.
