Scouts - EURO 2012 Volunteers

The National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine (NOSU) has continued to implement projects on social service in Scouting.

In order to involve scouts to one of the most prestigious international sport events - the European Football Championship, NOSU has become a partner of "Social Initiative" Youth Organization in the project on participation of international volunteer groups in the tournament.

The project is to be implemented on June 21-25, 2012 under the support of the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation . The rovers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine came to Kyiv to participate in it.

On June 21-23, 2012 the training seminars will be held. Here scouts will get the practical skills of the host city volunteers in the following spheres: volunteer information fan zone, a volunteer working with people with special needs, a volunteer in the fan embassy; volunteer on the public transport.

On June 24 project participants will work during the quarterfinal match to obtain practical work experience.

There also interactive programs will be organized: creating a situation of psychological comfort - the removal of the first negative impression of work with football fans, a role-play "Fan Zone" – simulation of the volunteers' actions at the maximum emotional outbursts, daily consultations at the sessions "Ethics Committee of volunteers", "Exchange of experience" and "Council of volunteers" for the analysis of real situations of the day.

According to one of the initiators of the project, a member of the Eurasian Scout Committee, first deputy chairman of the NOSU National Council Andriy Chesnokov, the implementation of this project will continue the work on social service in Scouting in the region, launched at the Innovation Forum in 2010. He also stressed that this will create additional opportunities for involvement into Scouting of new members from among the young people who love sport and want to help others to participate in major international sporting events.
