The 5.9-magnitude earthquake that hit southern Pakistan left many homes and infrastructure destroyed on 7 October in Harnai, Balochistan. Houses of locals built of mud made them vulnerable to earthquakes. Many people were injured and died.

Balochistan Boy Scouts Association formed a rescue and relief operation that morning, sending hope and providing light at the darkest hour to the families. Provincial Commissioner Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind led the mission. They created three Scout teams and wasted no time to save lives and provide immediate relief.

Team One stayed on the ground surveying the rubbles and joined the rescue operations. Team Two went to the hospital in Quetta City and gave first aid which is a big help to the doctors. They also carried patients to different wards for treatment in the city’s main hospital.

Team Three used the data collected on the ground by Team One to provide relief packages for distribution good for a week. They worked with other government organizations.

Teams One and Three ended the relief effort after a week while Team Two of the local Scouts of Harnai District stayed and monitored the situation. They kept their post and remained at the provincial headquarters until the situation was under control.
