Dear friends,

I am pleased to provide you with an update on the overall progress and planning for JOTA-JOTI 2021 (Jamboree-on-the-Air and Jamboree-on-the-Internet), including the launch of registration which is now open to Scouts and National Scout Organization (NSO) leadership.

JOTA-JOTI is the world’s largest Scouting event bringing together millions of young people each year online and over the airwaves. This year JOTA-JOTI will take place from Friday, 15 October to Sunday, 17 October 2021, and will focus on the theme of sustainability and Scouting’s global contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This year, greater collaboration has taken place with NSOs and JOTA-JOTI Coordinators to help organise and increase participation in the event. Individuals or groups may now register through the online platform at jotajoti.info to prepare for the virtual camp and join the event at any time during the weekend of activities.

To assist NSOs and JOTA-JOTI Coordinators with their engagement this year, we have prepared a high-level overview of the programme which can be accessed in this recent article. As in previous years, the Live Shows will be streamed on WOSM channels to offer more opportunities for young people and volunteers to connect, engage and be part of the fun.

We recognise that JOTA-JOTI 2021 may be very different for Scouts and NSOs around the world depending on local and national COVID-19 restrictions. Regardless of whether your local Scout groups will get together in-person or online, we are committed to making sure that all participants are Safe from Harm throughout the event, and have a positive, accessible and inclusive JOTA-JOTI experience.

We encourage NSOs and JOTA-JOTI Coordinators to share the details about the opening of registration for JOTA-JOTI 2021 with local Scout groups and Adults in Scouting, and to make use of the Trello board of visual assets and graphics to promote the event among your members. This year’s JOTA-JOTI is also a great opportunity to engage young people in conversation about the SDGs as part of their personal learning journey and progression.

More information about the event, including details for preparing to join JOTA through amateur radio and using the World Scout frequencies, is available on the JOTA-JOTI website.

We look forward to your participation in this year’s event, and if you have any further questions, please contact Jacob Murray, Director, World Events at the World Scout Bureau at jmurray@scout.org or reach out for support through help@jotajoti.info.

Yours in Scouting,

Ahmad Alhendawi

Secretary General

World Organization of the Scout Movement
