WOSM’s Membership Report 2021
I am pleased to share with you WOSM’s Membership Report 2021, which is now available for the first time in a dedicated digital platform, providing you with visuals and interactive elements to gain a deeper understanding into the membership trends of WOSM. The report is based on the latest information made available to us by National Scout Organizations (NSOs), with insight into WOSM’s membership data and trends between the period of 2005 to 2019.
It is highly encouraging to see through the report that WOSM experienced a continuous and increasing membership growth of 12%. Youth membership growth was notable among girls and boys, with a significant growth improvement in the involvement of young female members. This growth shows the dedication of the Movement in working towards the achievement of Vision 2023 and making Scouting available to more young people in communities all around the world.
It is important to note that this report reflects WOSM’s membership status and trends before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and is based on official census submissions from NSOs with additional data gathered through outreach efforts by the World Scout Bureau.
In order to continue to achieve meaningful and sustainable growth, it is important to understand the needs and realities of NSOs, and to have an accurate picture of what Scouting looks like across the six Scouting Regions. This Membership Report provides a strong foundation for discussions at the upcoming World Scout Conference and Youth Forum, as well as a basis for further decision-making, planning and implementation of the global growth agenda by NSOs and WOSM.
Please take the time to explore and read through the Membership Report online at scout.org/membership-report. If you have any questions regarding the report, please contact Goran Gjorgjiev, Manager, Membership Growth at the World Scout Bureau at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Yours in Scouting,
