Nomination for the Regional Scout Committee Membership 2022-2028

At the 27th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference in February 2022, five members of the Regional Scout Committee will complete their term of office (Chapter IV, Article VIII (3) of Asia-Pacific Regional Constitution & By-Laws). They are:

  • Amb. Ahmad Rusdi
  • Dr. Ie-bin Lian
  • Mr. Chay Hong Leng
  • Mr. Bhaidas Ishwar Nagarale
  • Mr. Ahmed Ali Maniku

These retiring members of the Committee shall only be eligible for re-election after a lapse of three years (Chapter IV, Article VIII (4) of Asia-Pacific Regional Constitution & By-Laws).
To fill-up these five vacancies, nominations from member Scout organizations are solicited for a term of six years (2022-2028). If your Scout organization wishes to make a nomination, such nomination must reach the World Scout Bureau/Asia-Pacific Support Centre in the attached form not later than 15 August 2021, 1700hrs Manila time (GMT+8). Enclosed nomination form and information sheet must be completed by the nominating Scout organization and by the nominee, respectively, and not more than one nomination per country shall be submitted.
In making nominations to the Regional Scout Committee, we strongly encourage the NSOs to consider the following:
1. Nomination of an adult member under the age of 30 years (at the time of election) to the committee in order to abide by the 26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference resolution no. 14/18 which states: “The Committee shall consist of ten persons, one of whom will be an adult member under the age of 30 years (at time of first appointment) excluding the Regional Youth Representative, from Member Organizations in the Region who shall be elected by the conference by secret ballot for a term of up to six years.”

2. Nomination of female members to the committee in order to abide by the 22nd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference resolution no. 2/07-e which states: “The NSOs and APR Scout Committee be encouraged to maintain gender balance at all possible levels including Regional Committee.”

Not more than one elected member from any one-member Scout Organization may serve in the Regional Scout Committee at any one period (Chapter IV, Article VIII (2) of the APR Constitution & By-Laws). Therefore, candidates from the following member countries are not eligible to run for the 2022 election:

• Scouts Australia
• Bangladesh Scouts
• Scout Association of Japan
• BoyScouts of the Philippines
• National Scout Organizationof Thailand
