Nepal Scouts sets a milestone; 753 local Scout committees formed
Nepal Scouts announced the formation of 753 local Scout committees on 28 April 2021 as it expands to local level of governance across the country. Using a new roadmap, Nepal Scouts is undergoing massive organizational restructuring made possible through the vision and hard work of its current leadership. The World Organization of the Scout Movement, through its Messengers of Peace initiative, and the World Association of Girl Guide and Girl Scouts are supporting the restructuring process.
At a press conference in Kathmandu, Lok Bahadur Bhandari, National Coordinator of Nepal Scouts, briefed reporters from premier media houses on the formation of local level committees. He stressed on how Nepal Scouts is working with all government levels leading to the expansion and significant growth of Scouting across the country . Director of Nepal Scouts Ram Prasad Bhattarai announced the names of leaders in the local committees.
After the country went into federal system in 2015, Nepal Scouts had to reframe into a federal model of governance as part of the integration process based on the constitution. In October 2020, Nepal Scouts appointed leading committees at provincial level. After the appointments, the association is now fully functional at all administrative divisions ensuring to provide quality Scouting for young people of Nepal.
