APR Course for Leader Trainers opens in Mouchak
The Regional Course for Leader Trainers was officially inaugurated on 15th November by Mr Md. Abdul Karim, President of Bangladesh Scouts (BS) at the National Scout Training Centre in Mouchak, Bangladesh. There are forty-nine participants from 15 NSOs: Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and USA.
At the opening ceremony, Mr Md. Abdul Karim said that Bangladesh Scouts has been working very hard to host the course. He emphasized the important role of Adults in Scouting. From this highest level of training of trainers, they will enhance their knowledge and skills, and exchange views and ideas with other participants.
Other guests present were M. Fazlur Rahman, Regional Scout Committee member; Md. Abul Kalam Azad, BS National Chief Commissioner; Habibul Alam Bir Pratik, 24th APR Conference Organizing Chairman; International Commissioner Md. Mozammel Haque and local National Scout Commissioners.
The training center was recently renovated, with the addition of an auditorium named after Manzoor Ul Karim. Facilities were upgraded to provide a conductive learning environment for the participants and staff.
NTC Rafiqul Islam Khan is the Course Leader while overseas trainers include Dr Mak Wai-Ming (Hong Kong), Paul Parkinson (Australia), Dr Cyrus Wadia (India), Joko Musitho (Indonesia), Dr Mirza Ali Haider (Bangladesh) and Thian Hiong-Boon (WSB/APR). The team facilitators consist of Lau Hooi-Lin (Malaysia), Md. Nazrul Islam, Prof. Dr Nirmal Kanti Mitra, Dhanalal Muhuri, Prof. Mozahed Hossain from Bangladesh.
The course covers five modules: Scouting knowledge, Scouting Skills, Adult Learning, Leaderships Skills, and Personal Development Skills. However, Risk & Safety Management Skill is added as an elective, and Team-Talk is a new topic for training methods sessions. The course will end on 21st November 2012.
