The World Organization of the Scouting Movement (WOSM) announced earlier today its decision to postpone the 16th World Scout Moot to 2022. Following careful considerations for the alignment of the calendar of World Events in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and upon close collaboration with the event Host (Scouting Ireland), the World Scout Committee (WSC) has decided to postpone the 16th World Scout Moot by one year, to a similar time frame in 2022.

The decision by the WSC aims to ensure the best possible context for WOSM World Events, ensuring the best possible experience for all participants, while at the same time keeping the alignment between all World and Regional Events organized by WOSM.

As more details are being finalized in the coming period, the Host with WOSM’s support will be sharing additional updates with all National Scout Organizations (NSOs), including the announcement of the exact new dates and age restrictions for the 16th World Scout Moot, taking into account the exceptional situation of the postponement.

WOSM encourages all NSOs to visit the question and answer page on the Moot website and refer to the official circular to NSOs for more information on the decision to postpone. As more details and guidance for participants becomes available, it will be posted to event’s website at

The World Scout Moot is a World Scouting event for senior branches (traditionally called Rovers) and other young adult members, usually gathering around 5,000 participants. The World Scout Moot usually takes place every four years in a different country, with the next one having been planned to take place in Ireland in 2021. Moots provide an opportunity for young adults in Scouting to meet together with the objective of improving their international understanding as citizens of the world.
