Study Session - Tell the story! Better communication to strengthen youth organizations

19 young leaders from 10 NSOs of Europe (Estonia, Lithuania, and Romania) and Eurasian (Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Ukraine) countries participated in the Study Session – joint project of Europe and Eurasia Regions with financial support of Council of Europe Directorate for Youth and Sport.

The Study Session took place 13-18 February 2011 at the European Youth Centre in Budapest, Hungary. The aim of the seminar was to provide a specific opportunity to reflect and possibly improve on approaches to external relations, with a focus on communication, advocacy and funding for National Scout Organizations operating in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Special attention was given to provide the participants with ideas, suggestions and tools on how to spread and disseminate the experience and knowledge gained within their organizations. All sessions were conducted bilingually - in Russian and English with simultaneous interpretation. Thanks to these participants do not have language barrier so work was more easy, active and creative. As a practical part of communication’s session participants create 4 different communication products – Video, Blog, Article, Case for support for 4 different targeted audiences – non-scouts, scouts-members of organization, government, and potential donors (respectively).

It was proposed to develop “dissemination plan” – the realistic plan of further steps in the fields where on their opinion organization should develop according knowledge learned and experienced received during the SS to participants at the end of event Also participants had an opportunity to get acquainted with sightseeing of beautiful city Budapest, to meet new friend, to write in blog about the event at the official site of the Study Session during the event.
