At JamCam 2020 we celebrate the diversity of the more than 8,000 scouts present in Brazil
JamCam (16th Interamerican Scout Jamboree and 3rd Interamerican Scout Camporee) is starting! There are about 8 thousand participants from 21 countries that will be meeting between 4 and 10 January. The pets Tuko (toucan), Guany (iguana) and Amber (fox), which represent South, Central and North America respectively, are having fun among all participants in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. The city is famous for being close to the border with Paraguay and Argentina, as well as possess natural attractions such as Iguazu Falls and the Bird’s Park.
The opening session was a celebration of all the diverse cultures that converged in the Convention Center, music and dancing were the main entertainment. The hosts of the night were Olivia Caban from United stateds, Enrique Rivas from El Salvador, Joao Manoel Dias from Brasil and Angeles Cailly Gatto from Argentina. Accompanied by the opening words of Karl Stoeckl, representative of the municipality of Foz de Iguazú, Rafael Macedo chairperson of Escoteiros do Brasil, and Daniel Corsen, chairperson of the Interamerican Committee.
The Programme is centered in the exploration of the Nature around, with trips to the Birds Park and the Natural Iguazu Park, activities within the campsite that defy the participants. Also with the Sustainable development village, the Interamerican Day, that develop skills and curiosity among the participants to be involved in the society around them and take action.
The campsite is more than 320,000 square meters, and holds participants divided in subcamps. The first group is young people between 11-14 years, the second group is for 14-18 years and the third group is the service team 18 years and up.
We are sure that for the participants of Brasil, Colombia, Perú, Bolivia, México, El Salvador, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mongolia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Uruguay, Guatemala, Chile, Nicaragua, Estados Unidos, Suiza, Portugal y Sudán del Sur. For Escoteiros do Brasil this is the largest youth event they have organized so far. We are grateful for their hard work and we will be enjoying the adventures with the youth in these coming days.
