U-report that was developed by UNICEF in collaboration with Uganda Scouts Association has won a prestigious global award on mobile innovation in the m-Government and participation category. U-report was honoured with the global UN-based World Summit Award mobile (WSA mobile) at the WSA Mobile Global Congress in Abu Dhabi from February 1 - 3, 2015 (http://wsa-mobile.org/winners/m-government-and-participation%20)

WOSM is pleased to note that with the Slovenia World Scout Conference Resolution 16/14 and the signing of the global agreement between UNICEF and WOSM in November 2014, UNICEF will avail the U-report platform to all the 216 member countries and territories giving the over 40 million Scouts an opportunity to join the innovative global youth engagement initiative. WOSM on the other hand will encourage all NSOs to take lead and all Scouts to join this communications and advocacy network for positive community change.

U-report is a free SMS-based social monitoring system that links citizens to health information, government services, and, most importantly, each other. It empowers young people to influence and drive change in issues important to them in their own communities, such as education, child protection and health, among others, and work together with community leaders for positive action. Since 2011, when U-report was started in Uganda, there are now over 550,000 U-report members in Burundi, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Swaziland, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Plans to roll out the platform in other countries are in the pipeline.

WOSM encourages Scouts in countries where U-report exists to join and be part of national advocacy and take action by carrying out service projects to help address community needs identified in order to increase our social impact.
