Pakistan Scouts Youth Forum 2018
Scouts Youth Forum 2018 with the theme "Pioneering the Future" was organized at Balochistan Boy Scouts Association, provincial headquarters, Quetta Pakistan. Scouting youth (Rover and Boy) from all over Pakistan participated in this event. The event was of three days and the activities were grouped according the theme of the day, the theme for the first day was “Learn", second day "Share" and the third day was "Act". Moreover, Scouts were taught the importance of democratic process through which Scouting elect their committee member at regional and world level, to do this Scouts were encouraged to nominate and participate in election for steering committee and youth advisor committee.
On day one, the opening ceremony took place in which former Chief Commissioner Scouts and Ex Speaker Provincial Assembly Rahilla Hameed Khan Durrani graced the ceremony as chief guest, senior Scouts executives from other provinces were also present and presented their views on the forum and pledged their support for the event throughout. After opening ceremony Scouts participated in learning activities that included Messenger of Peace community development projects and design, Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response (DRR & ER), Leadership and management in Scouting, and environmental activities in Scouting. Scouts also participated in various learning-based refresher activities during the first day. Moreover, Steering committee was also formed to draft resolution and suggestion of Youth participating in the forum. The day ended with a grand campfire in which Scouts participated and presented talent on stage.
On the second day, Scouts and Scout leaders designed activities to encourage Scouts to learn more about DRR, Scouts also prepared presentation and plans for community development projects of Messengers of Peace based on Sustainable Development Goals 1 to 6. Moreover, Scouts prepared shared their views on gender equality and how they can make the environment safe for girls around them. Steering committee meeting took place in which the committee presented their views on the forum and prepared for the election on the last day. The second day ended with cultural night with participants presenting their cultural dances and other engaging performances to share the history and tradition of their culture with other Scouts.
On the last day, Scouts participate in the election of Youth Advisor Committee (YAC), during the election chairman, vice chairman, secretary and members were elected, who will be part of national committees as advisor and will also formulate the team to conduct next youth forum. The election results were announced and provincial Association were presented their proposal for next forum in the form of presentation in which, one of them was selected and finalized to be the next youth forum by participants through voting. After the election process Scouts participated in awareness activity relating to gender equality, HeForShe awareness activity, cleaning campaign, tree plantation and Atas gathering also took place for ATAS members under supervision of national Atas coordinator. Moreover, Mr. Tayyab Lehri Secretary Education for the province of Balochistan graced the closing ceremony of youth forum as chief guest, the steering committee presented their resolutions to the chief guest, chief guest assured that the resolutions will be presented in the next National Council meeting for approval. The ceremony ended with the cutting of the cake for the celebration of 100 years of Rovering, address of Scouts Youth Forum organizer Saad Waqas and distribution of souvenirs and awards for participants and Scout executives.
