World Scout Committee induction meeting 2017
The overall aim of the meeting was to prepare the members of the World Scout Committee to successfully carry out their role; align the World Scout Committee around the priorities set by the World Scout Conference for the triennium and develop the working methods for the next three years, both within the World Scout Committee and within the Operational Framework.
The venue for the meeting was the Outspan Hotel in Nyeri, Kenya. In the grounds is ‘Paxtu’, a humble home where our Founder lived out his final years from 1938 to 1941. Therefore, a symbolic meeting place for Scouts, and particularly symbolic for the World Scout Committee to visit and draw inspiration from this special setting.
The agenda for the 3 day meeting was divided into 4 parts: Induction Training, Looking at the future; Reviewing and agreeing on working methods and work on Continuous learning and performance review.
During the evaluation of the meeting WSC members pointed out that they have acquired skills needed to perform as a Board member at the highest level in an international NGO. They also noted that the meeting helped in establishing their working methods, as well as strengthening the team work and collaboration.
