A permanent place to learn
Hello, my name is Alina (RU) and I’m a short-term staff for the winter season 2018 here at KISC. It’s was my day off when I decided to participate in the KISC academy, which is a 3-days theoretical/practical training for staff from KISC and from other Scout centers members of the Goose Network (a European Scout centers network). KISC academy is held once a year and contains several courses aimed to educate staff on important topics for running a Scout Centre. The program is prepared by scouts themselves, who know exactly which information is relevant for other fellow scouts. During the day I participated, I took two courses which were “Leadership” and “Inspired and motivated staff”.

During the Leadership course, I received a lot of new knowledge in this field; we were provided with several theoretical models, in which we could test our own leadership skills and see what needs improvement. Applying the models to real situations helped us to understand and remember them better, as I will be a ski guide this season I look forward to putting this knowledge into practice. Motivation training gave an inside of the driving forces which makes us wake up with joy early in the morning and be productive during the working day, as well as which tools could be used to stay focused on the task and show a great performance.
KISC academy was a great opportunity for me to enrich the knowledge of leadership and motivation in the context of scouting, what in the end set me thinking about my personal goals and motivation in life.
