Croatian Scouts marked the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

The Scout Association of Croatia has organized an ecological event on the occasion of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Therefore, on September 16th, three hundred oak peach seedlings have been planted in an activity that gathered more than a hundred young Scout volunteers.

This year's date marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Montreal Protocol on ozone depleting substances. Protocol has been accepted by all United Nations member states, and thus contributed to the preservation of this important shield for our planet.

The Scout Association of Croatia has numerous ecological activities through the year as part of their regular work with children and young people. The aim is to raise awareness among its members and citizens about the necessity of nature conservation, as well as the implementation of specific environmental protection steps in the local community.
During this event, which was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Scouts gave out educational leaflets to the citizens walking by, with information and tips on how all of us can help the environment on daily basis. With this activity, the Scouts wanted to emphasize that the struggle for nature and the preservation of the environment never ceases, but that each and every one of us can make a contribution.
