Vision 2023 is WOSM’s strategic framework that sets the direction for the Movement and ensures that we have a clear idea of where we are going and how to get there. Young people have a key role to play in achieving our goals in the Vision. Here you can explore the different parts of the Vision, and learn about and share how young people are contributing towards reaching Vision 2023.
Youth Achieving Vision 2023
WOSM’s Vision is: “By 2023 Scouting will be the world’s leading educational youth movement, enabling 100 million young people to be active citizens creating positive change in their communities based on shared values."
It is deliberately broad, but in order to look how we can work towards achieving it, we break it down into four sections, called meta-indicators. These are influence, growth, impact and unity.
As members of WOSM, it is our responsibility to contribute to the work necessary to achieve the goals across these sections. We as young people need to share in this responsibility, using our experiences and creativity to come up with new ideas how we can do this.
One of the challenges posed by our Vision is how to increase our membership and the number of people impacted by our work in Scouting. The Membership Task force 2015-2017 focused on that work. They made some progress but they recognise the importance of including young people in this work and the unique perspective young people bring to the discussion. So, if you have ever run a project, event or activity, locally or nationally, that led to more people becoming members of Scouting, we would love to hear it.
