The #ScoutForum entered Its second day

Day Two of the 12th World Scout Youth Forum started with a keynote address by Ahmad Alhendawi, the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, in conjunction with the session on “Society changes Scouts”. Alhendawi referenced Scouting to the My World survey which identified education as being the number one priority. He also spoke on peace promotion and peace building, global citizenship, and youth advisory systems around the world. When asked about how the UN and Scouts could establish better and closer cooperation, he said that Scouts could contribute to the post 2015 Development Agenda through their daily work and projects. Alhendawi also expressed UN’s commitment to cooperate more closely with the Scouts.

After the keynote address, participants at the #Scout Forum deliberated on global trends in the fields of economy, society, health and education.

The session “Scouting changing society” started with a project fair, where the participants had the opportunity to showcase their projects and select the best projects. Topping the list were Mexico, Brazil and France, who were awarded with some very delicious Slovenian chocolates. The participants, led by Youth Advisor candidates, then engaged in group discussions on the following themes: crisis response, reaching out to marginalized groups, mobility and connectivity, international solidarity, and environment education and sustainable development.

Final session for the day was the presentation on “How to write draft resolutions”. In the evening, the Host Committee entertained the participants to “Slovenian Night” where everyone had a fun time learning more about Slovenia and its culture.
