From 25th July to 4th August, the Scout organization of Serbia is organizing its 9th National scout jamboree. The site of the jamboree, at a small town of Bela Crkva, near the Romanian border is currently occupied by 1500 participants, members of 13 different national scout organizations, from the European, Eurasian and Asia-Pacific scout regions. During the 10 days of intensive program participants will have a chance to take part in many different activities ranging from pioneering, kayaking, and hiking to workshops on 21st century leadership skill and peace education. The Jamboree was opened by the assistant to the minister for youth, Ms Snezana Klasnja. The participants were also greeted by the chairman of the European scout committee, Dr. Andrea Demarmels, who was in a three day field visit to the Scout organization of Serbia, during which he met with the national board and discussed the future of the ongoing global support provided by the Region. The first day after the opening ceremony was marked by heavy rainfall that flooded the part of the site and caused several groups to relocate, the scouts and leaders once again showed the spirit of scouting by helping each other and sharing space and dry tents. Moreover, the situation did not stop the scouts from smiling and enjoying their time and will probably become one more story to be shared on future Jamborees.
