Date:- 19/07/2014

On the occasion of “Plantation week”, The Bharat Scouts & Guides Asansol District,Eastern Railways High School Group (Primary Section) organized a tree plantation programme on 19th July 2014, at Eastern Railway High School Primary Section, school campus, under the leadership & observation Of Smt. Madhu Jha, Headmistress & Group Leader (Guide),Eastern Railway High School (Primary Section) Group.
The headmistress of Eastern Railway High School, Sri Tanmoy Roy(Helper cub Unit), and Other School Teachers.& sum guardians of students also participated in the tree plantation programme. This year, special care was taken to choose saplings from among the native species like mango tree, jamun tree, guava tree, litchi tree, banana tree, kachnar, kanak Champa, Neem,deb-daru etc.and. The air, water, soil and climate of the Asansol region are most suitable for the growth of these native species, and hence their survival rate is quite high. In turn, these support the birds, insects and animals of this ecosystem. These species also are most effective in fighting air and noise pollution.
The highlight of the drive was the tree plantation at Eastern Railway School ground & where over 40 trees were planted by Scouts, Guides& cubs, Bulbuls and school students showed great enthusiasm in planting these trees which they knew would recharge ground water, prevent soil erosion and prevent siltation of their river. A massive tree plantation drive was also carried out at School. In spite of the rocky terrain and hardened soil, children planted trees.
