Former Patron of Estonian Scouting Recognised by Estonia's Ministry of Education and Sciences
At a ceremony on 1 February 2017 at the Estonian Ministry of Education and Science, H.E. Chris Holtby, formerly Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Estonia and patron of the Eesti Skautide Ühing (Estonian Scouts Association) from 2013 to 2016 was awarded the title of “Friend of the Youth Sector of Estonia 2016”. He was honoured for his contributions to a number of youth organisations in Estonia and in particular for his strong support of Estonian Scouting.
“We are thrilled”, comments Siim Maripuu, Chief Commissioner of Eesti Skautide Ühing, “to see Chris receiving this recognition. His enthusiasm and endless amount of energy, combined with his belief in doing good and his tireless support of the Scout Movement in our country over the past years really motivates us to do even more in helping creating a better world!”
Now serving as Her Majesty’s Consul-General in Melbourne, Australia (where he has already reached out to Scouts Victoria, Mr Holtby felt honoured to have been named “Friend of the Youth Sector of Estonia 2016” and greeted his Estonian friends via a special video message.
