In the period 30 september-3 October, in Armenia, took place the traditional youth engagement project for Eurasia- Excelscout. It was a very special edition since it was the 10th anniversary, but also because this year the participants to Excelscout further participated in the 3rd Regional Youth Forum. Participants were young scouts leaders from Eurasia NSOs, 3 participants from each, aged 18 to 26, that NSOs selected and nominated for participation.
The theme of the event was “Leadership of the 21st century: leadership for life”, and had as its objective to prepare a team of young scouts leaders from Eurasia NSOs to be involved in the decision-making processes in their NSOs, in the region and beyond.
The elements of the Program of Excelscout were very diverse, and incorporated a mix of good practices of youth involvement, unpacking the Concept paper of the 21st century Leadership and trying to identify the leadership skills in the participants themselves and think about change systems. Of course, there was an important session on formation of vision, since there is no leadership process without a vision in mind. Also, as Excelscout always incorporates physical training, an Adventure game with the theme leadership also happened at the Yerevan camp, where participants also had the possibility to plant a tree per NSO delegation and leave a living mark on Armenian land.
In the end, participants drafted their own change NSO projects that deal with a specific issue in their NSOs, and where they feel change is needed, and where they could contribute to solve the issue.
