Brunei Scouts gear up for new organizational goals

19. Mar 2014

"Strategic plan is important to any organization. A good organization must have a clear vision and direction to achieve its goals and a plan can only be good when goals are achieved," said Dato Paduka Ar. Awang Haji Idris bin Haji Abas,President of Persekutuan Pengakap Negara Brunei Darussalam (PPNBD), at the opening ceremony of the National Strategic Planning Workshop. The workshop, now ongoing at the National Headquarters of PPNBD, started on 16 March and will conclude on 21st March.

PPNBD is mapping out a new 10-year plan to align with their goal of providing high quality Scouting to young people. Participants envision a membership increase of 5,000 by 2024, with Scouting as a leading organisation offering an innovative, tech-savvy, and environment friendly program. The association is also envisaged as financially stable enjoying the support of government, and the private and public sectors.

Taking part in the planning process are more than 25 commissioners from different parts of Brunei Darussalam and national level leaders headed by Chief Commissioner Haji Awang Badar Haji Awang Ali. Directing the workshop is Haji Mohd. Zali bin Haji Arsad, supported by APR Director S Prassanna Shrivastava. In his remarks at the opening ceremony Mr Prassanna reiterated the popular saying that “the future belongs to those who plan for it." Along with the PPNBD Chief Commissioner, PPNBD Vice-President Haji Metussin Haji Tuba, is also contributing substantial inputs in crafting the plan.

Important discussion on Messengers of Peace will be tackled at the concluding hours of the workshop.
