First Meeting of the Environment Network

On October 12 was launched the first meeting of the Environment Network in the Interamerican Region. The Scout Association of Mexico was the host National Scout Organization of this important event.

The meeting started in the premises of the CONAFOR (National Forest Commission), located in the beautiful city of Guadalajara. It was there where began its works this important network in addition to those already existing in the Interamerican Region. Were the authorities of CONAFOR who shared words of welcome to the participants from the NSOs of Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and the host country, Mexico.
Throughout that first day, the topics included in the agenda began to were disscused . That same day in the evening, participants were transported to Ciudad Guzman, where there is a training center of CONAFOR, there were developed sessions on 13 and 14 October. Were announced projects being developed by participating countries, as well as many interesting projects that are developing by youth belonging to Mexico's Environmental Scout Network.
The network decided to propose to the Interamerican Scout Committee a name change to Interamerican Network of Development, Peace and Environment, to integrate these three areas as their performance and thereby strengthen the Youth Programme in the Interamerican Region NSOs.
Inside the meeting was held the ceremony to establish a Scouts of the World base in the Forestry Training Centre in Ciudad Guzman.
Thanks to the hospitality of the Scouts of Mexico the meeting was a success, participants left very motivated and committed to work in these three lines of action in their National Scout Organizations.
