Scouting contributes to good citizenship

In his address at the inauguration ceremony of the 14th National Council Meeting in Kathmandu city, Nepal’s Prime Minister and Patron of Nepal Scouts Dr Baburam Bhattarai said Scouting contributes to good citizenship and saw Scouting an important to the young people, considering the present situation of the country.

Joining the Prime Minister was the Ministry of Youth and Sports Secretary Mr Hari Prasad who assured supporting Nepal Scouts in implementing its programme.

A National Council meeting was held after the inauguration where national secretaries presented their annual report.

Prime Minister Bhattarai also urged Nepal Scouts to give special attention to the upcoming 2nd National Scout Jamboree, from 10-15 April 2013 this year in Tikauli, Chitwan district where the Prime Minister will be the Chief Guest. The 2nd national jamboree is a historical event after a gap of 26 years. Chief Commissioner Shree Ram Lamichhane said that Nepal Scouts will give their best to provide the participants a good Jamboree adventure.
