The 7th Africa Scout Jamboree has been a great event realising over One thousand registered participants ,bringing together nearly 20 countries in Africa and 2 other countries from Asia (South Korea) and Central Europe (Polland). Woooooow what a great opportunity for young people to meet on a love and peace fuelled platform to share experiences, diverse cultures, religions and differents ways of scouting, all in efforts to create a better world. When i joined scouting (back in 1998) ,Just two weeks afterwards, on my investiture ceremony, my Akela (Cub Leader) told me that i had just joined the biggest youth movement and a family of both boys and girls where love and respect for each other are served as the main meal on the dinner table. Trust me ....he didnt lie because a few months later i got a chance to participate on a radio jamboree (JOTA) where i got my proof. I was like woooow....its true!!!. Its because of the opportunity i got ,to meet other scouts hence the same purpose of the 7th African Scout Jamboree. Thumbs up to all the participating contingents. To me the jamboree is a fulfillment of the welcoming message passed on to a scout by the Troop leader during the investisture ceremony. Many thanks to the Ivorian Federation of scouts for accepting the responsibility to host this colourful event. Cote D Ivoire is such a beautiful and peaceful country. Before i go further, i wish to register my profound gratitudes towards Mr. the Chairman of the World Scout Committee Mr *João Gonçalves , Madam *Jemima Nartey*(World, scout Committee Vice Chairperson.) and Mr *Fredric T. Kamakama* (Africa Regional Director) for embracing the jamboree. Your appearance on this youthful event is a priviledge and the greatest support ever. Since the beginning many young people have had an opportunity to transform diverse skills into practise and the onsite Global Village has helped to enhance the knowledge and skills of many scouts at the jamboree. THE BETTER WORLD TENT Iam so much thrilled to share about the M.O.P network activities which were happening here at the Jamboree. You know sharing the word of peace has always been the greatest work ever in a volunteer's life. Since the 01 August 2016 ,the day when the jamboree started , The MOP team launched the better world activities with more than 10 corners namely #4 steps to become a Messenger Of Peace #Active Global Citizen #KAICIID dialogue #Scouts Go Solar #Scout of the World Award #Food For Life #Safe from Harm #M.O.P Quiz Cards #Scout.org Registration #U-Report registration Participants visited the better world stations on rotational basis which enabled participants from different countries to experience and absorb more on the concept of peace and how we as a movement intend to create a better world. From the duration of the camp ,the better world programme was presented for four days i.e 3rd,4th,5th and 8th of August (today). Adding the number to the current registration figures, nearly 200 participants have registered upto now and given time tomorrow, more shall register. ONSITE TRANNING A dialogue training also took place as well as Peace trainning and Young spokesperson training. The three trainnings ,with 20 selected participants each, ran for two consecutive days adding more Dialogical scouts, Agents of peace and Spokesperson to the world. I remember the M.O.P trainees making a pledge that they will go ahead and serve the purpose and enforce deliverance against aspirations. That was nice hearing from the trainees themselves and the facilitators encouraged them to Walk the Talk. The chockfull support from Africa Regional Office and staff (Mr. Jacques, Mr. Jonathan ,Mr. Nelson ,Madam Mary and Dr. Davis) shall never go unmentioned.Let Rounds of applauses make echoes for the Office staff. Thanks to the M.O.P Africa dream team for making all this happen. The spirit of unanimity in you should keep blazing. You are such a wonderful family. Until Next time.......
