In coincidence with the Europe-Eurasia Leadership Training & Partnership Meeting and with the Eurasia Scout Committee meeting on the 15th of May 2016 in Tbilisi (Georgia) the European and the Eurasian Scout Regions signed an important partnership agreement at the presence of representatives of both regional committees, of many NSOs of both Regions and of representatives of the World Scout Bureau Global Support Centre Kuala Lumpur, the Eurasia Support Centre Kiev and the Europe Support Centre Geneva.
The main aim of the agreement is capacity building of the member NSOs of both Regions through increased cooperation between the two Regions. The promotion of partnerships between the NSOs of the two Regions and a close collaboration of both the two Support Centres and of the two Committees is also envisaged by this agreement.
Based on the ongoing partnership activities for over ten years between the Eurasia and the European Scout regions and the analysis of the needs and aspirations of young people in our societies, in wishing to foster the development of each member association involved, in promoting intercultural learning in respect of each other’s values and beliefs, in ensuring the best support for our member organisations, the two Regions in a spirit of unity send a clear signal of solidarity and partnership.
The Europe-Eurasia Leadership Training & Partnership Meeting, held from the 13th to the 16th of May 2016 had a twofold general aim:
1) To share, discuss and comment the new WOSM leadership model, subsequent to the 21st Century Leadership discussions held in WOSM in the last years. The model consists of four fundamental parts: (value-based) Purpose with visionary skills, (empowering) Individual with self-management skills, (collaborate with others) people skills and we have a Process of learning by doing (management skills). Scouting at its best develops these four skill sets in different ways.
2) To share, create and experience the topic of partnerships with the focus on how to evaluate and measure the impact of partnerships on the young people engaged in the activities and our Scout practices. The overall objective was to provide opportunities to National Scout Organisations (NSOs) engaged in partnerships within scouting to reflect on their current relationships, strengthen them and get the possibility to create new ones. Particular importance was given to the funding opportunities.
All these meetings and events were hosted by the Georgian Organisation of the Scout Movement (GOSM).
