Rover Scouts from different areas of Taiwan gathered in National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) Taichung for the National Rover Conference(NRC) on 3-8 February 2017.

209 Rovers and staff from Scouts of China and 17 overseas rovers from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore participated in this event, including Chairperson of Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Young Adult Member Group (YAMG) Mori Chen and members Belinda Wang and Nurul Atik.

YAMG Chairperson Mori Chen said “The NRC provided a perfect chance for rovers from different areas to gather together and share their thoughts on rover policies and provided them with opportunity to exchange their ideas with other Rover Scouts in other countries! A place where Rovers can engage in decision making and decide the future direction of rovers!”

The purpose of the NRC is to give young people the avenue to enhance their skills in decision-making at the institutional level of Scouting, to provide opportunities for Rovers to take part discussions and express their opinions in different issues.

Chairman and Chief Commissioner Lin, Yu-Chang said this is a great opportunity for rovers to “Learning by Doing” in youth involvement, decision-making, and also the chance for rovers to step out their comfort zone to accept more challenges for the future. Mr. Lin also encouraged them to do more community service.

At the opening, Deputy Mayor of Taichung City Lin Yi -Ying, who was a girl scout before, delightedly welcomed all Rovers, especially the international participants and to enjoy the beauty of Taichung City. SoC appreciated the support from President of NCHU Dr. Fuh-Sheng Shieu, who provided the venue this time.
