15 September 2019, Kyiv, Ukraine: More than 100 youth and adult leaders and volunteers from National Scout Organizations (NSOs) across Eurasia gathered in Kyiv, Ukraine this week to shape the future of Scouting in the region.

Together 4th Eurasia Scout Youth Forum and the 7th Eurasia Scout Conference brought together delegates and observers from NSOs across the Region and elsewhere around the world. Under the theme “Strengthening Unity”, the Youth Forum offered an opportunity to unite young Scouts from across Eurasia and provide an educational platform for the exchange of experience, ideas and best practices. During the Youth Forum, participants discussed strategic priorities for Scouting in the region over the next two years and engaged in dialogue around some of the most pressing issues facing Eurasian youth such as unemployment, social equality, bullying, politics, environmental issues, and sexual education.

“The Youth Forum is always an engaging opportunity to involve more young people in shaping the future of Scouting throughout Eurasia and beyond. It’s crucial that the initiative to develop youth engagement processes comes directly from all young people in the Region. Ahead of us is a wonderful period that will bring new discoveries and I’m confident that the best is yet to come as we all work together," said Elena Sermaksheva, Youth Advisor to the Eurasia Scout Committee and Chairperson of the Youth Forum.

Building on the success of the Youth Forum, the Eurasia Scout Conference focused on the theme “Growing Together”, engaging NSOs in approving a new vision and strategy for the Eurasia Scout Region with a particular focus on growth and partnerships.

“Looking ahead there is a wealth of possibility for the growth of Scouting in Eurasia. By bringing together so many Scouting leaders and volunteers from across the Region and around the world, we have been able to set a vision for the future. The next step will be to put our strategy into action, working with partners and in collaboration with NSOs to ensure our youth programme reaches even more young people," said Srinath Tirumale, Regional Director of the World Scout Bureau Eurasia Support Centre.

At the Conference the following individuals were elected to the Eurasia Scout Committee

- Andriy Chesnokov (National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine) - Chairperson
- Rufat Velizade (Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan) - Vice-Chairperson
- Georgi Khvintelani (Georgian Organization of the Scout Movement)
- Oleksandra Kartvelishvili (National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine) - Youth Advisor
- Farkhan Aliyev (Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan) - Youth Advisor
- Anastasia Iarovoi (National Scout Association of Moldova) - Youth Advisor

The Youth Forum and Conference events were preceded by a Dialogue for Peace training for Rover Scouts which facilitated a cross-cultural and inter-religious conversation about how to engage and support young people in contributing as active global citizens towards building peace within their communities.
