New dates for the 16th World Scout Moot have been set for the event to take place in Ireland from 18 - 28 July 2022 following a decision by World Scouting in collaboration with host, Scouting Ireland. The Moot will kick off with an opening ceremony on 18 July in central Dublin and conclude with a closing ceremony on 28 July. Over the course of ten days, Rover Scouts between the ages of 18 and 26 years old will have an opportunity to experience a fun, exciting and adventurous programme of activities.

In keeping with the inclusive spirit of the event to ensure that young people who were eligible for the previous 2021 Moot dates will also be eligible to attend in 2022, participants must be born between 19 July 1995 to 18 July 2004. International Service Team (IST) members must be at least 27-years-old on the first day of the Moot meaning that they must have been born on 18 July 1995 or earlier.

The theme for the 2022 Moot is le chéile (leh kay-la) which translates to “together” in the Irish language. The Moot will bring together thousands of Scouts from around the world to share cultures, learn from each other and gain new skills.

The Global Development Village will offer participants and members of the IST the chance to understand the most pressing realities and challenges of our time by learning about the Sustainable Development Goals and how to take action as global citizens to protect our planet.

With over 100 countries expected to be represented at the Moot, the International Day will be a festival of cultures and beliefs, where Scouts will come together and share lively music, colourful costumes and beautiful dances. In addition, Scouts can learn about different countries and cultures coming together at the Moot from the various Contingents while enjoying social events and various food houses and cafés.

The Competencies for Life programme will focus on the development of critical and fundamental skills around the topics of artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, video production, critical thinking and creativity.

The 16th World Scout Moot in Ireland promises to provide Scouts and Leaders with an exciting and engaging programme that is open to all and looks to be the biggest Moot yet! To learn more or register for the 16th World Scout Moot, please visit www.worldscoutmoot.ie
