2500 Service hours
Scouting was initiated at Almadhrashathul Arabiyyathul Islamiyya after a year from the School’s inauguration, on 17th August 1988. According to the documents accumulated through The Scout Association of Maldives on 17th August 1988, Arabiyya Scout Group (11th Malé Scout Group) was inaugurated with the investiture of 36 Boy Scouts. However, these documents do not name the Scouts who were invested on that historical ceremony.
In its more than 2 decades of distinctive service, a Scout Group which started with 36 Scouts, has invested more than 1000 Scouts of both genders and created a generation of outstanding Scouts who have been of great service to the nation.
The Scout Leaders who served the Group in its early stages also goes unidentified in the dark pages of history. Nonetheless, since 1990 Arabiyya Scout Group has received the guided and dedicated services of some of the most celebrated Scout Leaders in the Maldives. Former Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association Mr. Mohamed Asim, Regional Supports Commissioner Mr. Naseem Ali, Member of National Scout Council Mr. Nazim Jaleel, Mr. Ahmed Riza, Mr. Hassan Qasim and Mr. Hussain Qasim and current Chief Commissioner Mr. Ahmed Ali Maniku are among the most acknowledged Scout Leaders whose dedicated service has guided Arabiyya Scout Group during turbulent times and supple times alike.
Furthermore, the former National Commissioner for Organisational Development Mr. Saif Azhar, former Chief Commissioner of The Scout Association of Maldives Mr. Mohamed Nazeef, International Commissioner Mr. Hussain Abdullah and National Commissioner for Finance Mr. Ahmed Nasheed are currently serving as members of Arabiyya Scout Group.
Nevertheless, their services are not any more dazzling than the services of lesser known Scouters such as Ms. Maryam Laiza, Mr. Isgal Rasheed, Mr. Mohamed Imthiyaz, Mr. Adam Malik, Mr. Ahmed Haneef, Mr. Ahmed Sabah, Ms. Aishath Adheela, Ms. Waleedha Ibrahim, Ms. Aishath Sofaa Badhuru, Ms. Fathmath Roona and Late Ms. Mariyam Shafiya. Their services further radiate because of the cooperation and teamwork of all the Scouters who served at Arabiyya Scout Group.
The achievements and accomplishments of Arabiyya Scout Group are countless. Today Arabiyya Scout Group is the ONLY Scout Group in Maldives with all the branches of Scouting for all age groups actively participating in the group’s activities.
