The Ag. Regional Director, Mr. Winston Adams and Jacques Sandrizi faciliated a multipurpose management workshop for the leaders of the Ethiopia Scouts Association, in Addis Ababa on 7 and 8 March 2009. The main goal of this training was to equip the newly elected leaders with skills and experience to build Scouting in Ethiopia. This was also an opportunity to understand ESA better to help the WSB-ARO to support Scouting in this country.

The topics covered included:

  • WOSM as an organization and the Africa Regional Office - to help participants understand how it works. This also gave the opportunity to look at ESA's organizational structure, through a session conducted by the Chief Commissioner.
  • Strategic Planning based on WOSM's guidelines which were available for the participants. Participants had the opportunity to do the groundwork towards planning for their National Strategic Planning workshop through a SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunity and Threats) and PEST (Political, Economic, Social and Technological) analysis of ESA.
  • Management and Leadership
  • Uniforms and non uniform section
  • WOSM Strategic Priorities
  • Membership development
  • Financial and Accounting management
  • Communications and Public Relations management.

Participants were very satisfied by the training and wish to have more such opportunities. In sign of appreciation, ESA gave a token to the ARO team lead by the Ag. Regional Director.
