Yemeni Scouts and Guides Contribute to COVID-19 Response and Community Development
The Scouts and Guides of Yemen facilitated the delivery of food assistance to displaced people sheltered in 80 centers while educating them on the precautionary measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The Scouts worked in cooperation with Cleanliness Fund in Al Mohara Governorate. The initiative also aimed at conducting sterilization of government buildings and the Central Bank.
Working with activists from civil society organizations, the Scouts and Guides made the households visits to increase the citizens’ awareness on the nature and prevention methods of the new coronavirus pandemic. This was part of the awareness campaign on the risks of COVID-19 organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19, Scouts around the world have been responding to the needs of their communities on an individual and group level from awareness-raising to deliveries of essential items. World Scouting set up a Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund, where you can donate to help Scouts continue supporting their communities in need. All funds will be channelled directly to support National Scout Organizations.
