On last 30 April 2020 took place the Regional Webinar Scouting and Humanitarian Action at the Interamerican Scout Region.

As the world's leading non formal educational youth movement, Scouting's role is vital in helping millions of young people in vulnerable communities around the world by developing and reinforcing the leadership skills necessary to assist in time of emergency.

Our World is facing many challenges today. Global risks of natural and man-made disasters are more prevalent. More and more NSOs are engaging in relief efforts at an institutional level following major disasters and humanitarian crises. Disaster Risk Reduction can be both an element of the Scouting’s educational programme and a tool for positive social impact. The participation of more Scouts at this key moment is very important to achieve it.

The purpose of this event was training representatives of the NSOs of the Interamerican Region on the topic of Humanitarian Action. Learn the approach proposed by WOSM for NSOs working on Humanitarian Action initiatives. Identify humanitarian actors with whom to establish strategic alliances and how to work with them. Understand the impact Scouting has on refugees and migrant communities. And also invite them to request services in Humanitarian Action to build their emergency plans.

Total attendance was around 100 people representing 23 NSOs from the region, Interamerican Scout Committee, World Scout Bureau, Interamerican Scout Foundation among others, all with Safe From Harm course. The webinar was divided in two blocks. The first block in the morning had all sessions in Spanish. And in the afternoon a second block with all sessions in English for the NSOs mainly from the Caribbean. The sessions in English also had attendance from USA and Canada.

The sessions were delivered by WOSM Consultants from Interamerican Region and staff from Interamerica and Global Support Centres.

Isabel Macas from Scouts del Ecuador commented: "Thanks for the invitation, a very interesting topic a very interesting topic that allowed me to consolidate my knowledge and I want to continue learning".
