2nd. Interamerican Symposium on Diversity and Inclusion in Scouting
From August 23 to 25, 2019 took place the 2nd. Interamerican Symposium on Diversity and Inclusion in Scouting at the Holiday Inn of City of Knowledge in Panama.
The event was held with 25 participants representing 9 National Scout Organizations, Interamerican Scout Committee, World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Support Centre and international organizations such as UN Women, RET International, World Vision, UNHCR, Save the Children and Special Olympics.
In order to strengthen the theme of Diversity and Inclusion in the Interamerican Region, the event seek to relate the strategic areas such as the Youth Programme, Adults in Scouting and Institutional Development with Diversity and Inclusion as a strategic priority, identify actions in favor of gender equality and know how Scouting collaborates so that migrants can integrate into society properly. Another objective of the event is to promote work with people with disabilities and attention of minority groups.
Two of the NSOs at the event, Scouts du Canada and Scouts of Mexico, also presented Best Practices on Diversity and Inclusion in their countries.
