New Action Kit supports youth-driven engagement in the SDGs
Today, World Scouting unveiled the Discovering the SDGs Action Kit, the latest in a series of tools and resources that are being developed to engage over 50 million Scouts in making the world’s largest coordinated youth contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals as part of the Scouts for SDGs initiative.
Through a range of interactive and engaging educational activities, the Action Kit will empower young people to contribute to sustainable development by enabling them to become aware, ready to act, and advocate for the 17 SDGs.
The kit also offers a tool for young people to develop the eight key competencies for sustainable development, which includes critical thinking, self-awareness, teamwork and problem-solving capabilities. World Scouting aims to support all Scouts to develop these competencies to become global active citizens for sustainable development and deliver on an agenda to improve our communities and planet by 2030.
Comprising a manual and activity cards, the Action Kit is designed for young people of all ages and may be used by leaders during Scout meetings, camps, and training sessions.
Other useful resources developed as part of the Scouts for SDGs initiative, which was made possible with the support of Alwaleed Philanthropies, include the Scouts for SDGs Reference Resource and the Scouts for SDGs Guidelines to assist National Scout Organizations in aligning their Youth Programme with the SDGs.
