Optimal Use of Social Networks
The Arab Scout Regional Office, in cooperation with Al Ahram Establishment which issues a magazine called "the language of the age" (one of the widest prevalent Arab magazines in the area of the Internet), organized the 2nd meeting of the executives responsible for Scouting websites. The Meeting focused on the role that can be played by social networks in enhancing the image of the Scout Movement and also use them for marketing ideas and goals. It included sessions, dialogues, workshops and lectures on topics of interest to those who work on the international network, including: communication protocols over the Internet (IPV6) / implementation on Wikilix site / web search engines and engines of knowledge and semantic web / JOTA and JOTI / Nano Digital Scouting / DNS on the Internet and Arab domains / cyber crimes and how to face them / Arab Scout websites' assessment / follow-up the implementation of Honor Scout Media Code / IPR's on the Arab and world scouting websites / Team Speak program / IRC program.
10 Arab official websites were represented in the meeting namely: the Jordanian Association for Boy Scouts and Girl Guides - Tunisian Scout Association - Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association - Sudan Boy Scouts Association - Palestinian Scout Association - Federation of Scouts of Lebanon - the Egyptian Federation of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides - National Federation of Morocco Scouting – Boy Scouts and the Girl Guides Association of Mauritania - Yemen Scout Association. This is in addition to 7 unofficial sites, namely: Scouts of Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia - Scouts of Education in Makah - Scout Association of Environment in Lebanon - Scout Association of Mahdi - Scouting Forum website - Scout Promise website - One World ... One Promise website.
The closing ceremony witnessed signing on the Honor Code of Arab Scout Websites for the websites which did not sign on the same in the first meeting. The participants concluded the Meeting with a significant number of recommendations, namely: Support for Arab and world scout websites, whether official or unofficial, by browsers in order to obtain advanced order in the web search engine "Google" / urge members of the Scout Movement on the importance of using the chat room "Team Speak" and hold meetings for teams and groups through the said room / give attention to putting the emblem of Arab Scout Centenary on the Arab official and unofficial websites / recommend the Arab Scout Organizations to use JOTI in the distribution of activities and programs relating to the centenary celebration / design and deploy the scout badge for active individuals on the Arab scout websites for scouts and leaders separately / recommend the Arab Scout Regional Office to approve an annual prize for the best scout Arab website (official – unofficial) and the appraisal is conducted by specialists in this regard / urge executives of Arab scout websites to maintain permanent cooperation to apply the honor code and intellectual property rights on the Web / urge the Arab leaders and scouts to use social networks in enhancing the image of Scouting / use the Arabic language correctly on the Arab scout websites / organize an Arab scout Jamboree on the Internet annually on a fixed date / urge National Scout Organizations to apply for purchasing the right to use the World Scouting brand.
