Scouting for Food 2019
Boy Scout Troop 878 along with Cub Scout Pack 1876 and Pack 346 delivered 5,500 flyers to multiples neighborhoods in order to collect non-perishable food for our local food pantry, The Spring Woodlands Ministries.
There were 70 volunteers from Troop 878, 60 volunteers from Pack 1876, and 27volunteers from Pack 346 that participated in this meaningful event.
We started by helping the district distribute Scouting for Food flyers to the district units. On January 26th, 2019, all 3 units were able to hang 5,500 flyers to houses in the area.
On February 2nd, Troop 878 Scouts and families collected 2,286lb of food donation, with a total of 383.5 service hours, with Pack 1876 contributed 150 service hours and Pack 346 contributed 67.5 service hours.
After food collection, multiple Scout families continue their service at the food pantry to mark, checked expiration dates and the freshness of the food donation, then shelf the food items to the pantry.
Our troop historian, Kayden Lalor have compiled pictures and put them into a nice video clip which is included in the link, please check out the video from troop Historian, Kayden Lalor.
