After most of them being taken through the Dialogue for Peace training, International Leadership training & Young Correspondents and Spokespersons Training, participants at the 8th Africa Scout Youth Forum were quite ready to begin the fruitful discussions that will help in carving out the future for Scouting in Africa, especially for the young people.

The Youth Forum is one of the Youth engagement initiatives of World Scouting that seeks to increase the participation of young people within the structures of WOSM. The Youth Forum gives a voice to the young people to be able to communicate how they would like the future of Scouting to be developed. It offers young people the opportunity to take an active role and the front view towards creation of a better world.

All participants attending the forum have been encouraged to not only represent their countries but to also contribute to decisions that will help create a positive change in the Africa.

“You are deeply privileged to have been nominated by your countries to represent the millions of Scouts in your national organization at this forum. Please do a good job on their behalf. Participate in productive discussions, support wonderful resolutions and give your opinion actively in order to provide different perspectives,’’ Said Victor Atipagah, a member of the Africa Scout Committee who spoke on behalf of the Chairperson of the Africa Scout Committee.

The Youth Forum in Africa has been continuously growing over the years and the Youth Advisor system has been strengthened in order to better provide the relevant support from the volunteers and increase the reach and voice of young people before, during and after the forum.

“The Government of Zimbabwe is committed to working with the Movement in Zimbabwe in developing Scouting and broadening its reach among the young people,’’ said Hon. Kazembe Kazembe, Minister for Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation.

The 8th Africa Scouts Youth Forum will provide the 17th Africa Scout Conference with recommendations to be considered for re-shaping of the Scouting agenda in Africa over the coming three years.
